McHenry Base Flight For Life awards their 2016 Scene Call of the year to The Elk Grove Village Fire Department

Units participating in this call included:
Quint 7, Ambulance 7, Engine 8, Ambulance 10, Engine 10 and Arlington Height’s Rescue Squad. The Chief, Deputy and Battalion Chiefs were also participating in this rescue.
Quint 7 arrived first and found a vehicle wrapped around a two-foot diameter tree with the driver entrapped inside the vehicle. The vehicle was on the driver’s side. Initial extrication attempts through the vehicle roof provided access to the patient, but the lower torso was pinned between the tree and the lower part of the vehicle. The crews were able to open the bottom of the vehicle and they removed the driver’s seat from the vehicle and the patient was then transferred to a backboard/stretcher and then placed in the helicopter.
