We have seen a huge increase in RSV cases in our area. Hospitals are doing everything possible to prepare surge beds. Please be understanding if they may need to re-route an ambulance to a location that has more capacity at the moment to care for a critically ill child.
Please remind all EMS personnel that they need to be vigilant with PPE and that we have an SOP for these patients. Please see below.
Also attached is a brief practice alert that highlights several of the respiratory conditions that may be experienced by children and our protocols for their care. Please forward to all EMS personnel and post in the ambulances. Thanks!
