Dr. Ortinau receives the ICEP Meritorious Service Award

Dr. Ortinau has been a member of ICEP since its inception in 1977, serving on the Board of Directors from 1993 to 2001 and as President for the 1999-2000 term. He is a longtime member of the EMS Committee and has served as the Committee Chair since 2014.  Dr. Ortinau has been the EMS Medical Director for the Northwest Community EMS System since 1997 and plans to retire at the end of 2016. He is also an attending emergency physician and EMT and Paramedic Instructor for the system. He serves as an expert witness in medical legal issues involving EMS and emergency medicine.  Dr. Ortinau attended Loyola University Stritch School of Medicine and completed his residency in family practice at Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge. He was one of the first physicians to earn subspecialty board certification in Emergency Medical Services from the American Board of Emergency Medicine.
