Rolling Meadows May 2015 Cardiac Arrest Save

In early May, Rolling Meadows Ambulance 15, Engine 15 and Battalion 15 responded for a reported seizure patient in the grocery store parking lot. Upon arrival the crew found a pulseless 63 year old male patient exhibiting agonal respirations.
CPR and Advanced Life Support were initiated and the patient was determined to be in V-fib. The patient was defibrillated @ 200 J with no conversion. Following two minutes of CPR the patient was defibrillated @ 300 J at which point his rhythm changed to sinus tachycardia. The patient regained a strong pulse and spontaneous respirations returned. The patient continued to receive advanced life support care and was transported to Northwest Community Emergency Room.
