Lake Zurich Delivers a baby in their fire station on September 29th

11/5/2014

Lake Zurich Fire Department delivered a baby on the bay floor of Station 2 on September 29, 2014 @ 0525.

Ekaterina went into labor approximately 30 min earlier, and this was her 6th baby.  They were on their way to Good Shepherd Hospital when mom realized they were not going to make it.  Jim (the father) bypassed station 1, disregarding his wife’s instructions to stop.  Jim did stop at station 2 and woke the crew up and pulled into the bay.  Therefore the baby is known as “Station 2 Baby”.

This was Spencer Cornell’s first delivery, and was assisted by Jeff Ritchie, Martin Joyce, Christopher Hedquist, Terry Johnston, and Scott Nemeth.

All went well and baby Gabriel is adored by his 5 siblings. (posted with the permission of the mother and father).
Congratulations to this team for a job well done!
